WORKSHOP The Emperor’s New Clothes: is being naked the greenest fashion choice?

Challenging myths about green fashion and inviting us to rethink our wardrobe choices

The workshop explores how the garments we wear form part of an industry that accounts for 10% of  global CO2 emissions, consumes 79 trillion litres of water and creates 92 million tonnes of waste and relies on 300 million workers in more than 100 countries. Exploring the true story of your clothes, participants will be challenged to consider this complex industry in terms of environmental and social impacts and to consider how wardrobe  choices have a direct impact on the planet, workers and their families. It will also challenge existing ‘myths’ where some of our greenest fashion choices can be the worst choices for the planet. Using fashion to critically analyse debates about global sustainability, the workshop will share activities applicable to a wide range of age groups. ,
